Southern Piscataquis County towns logged the most snowfall over the storm that crossed the state Monday and Tuesday, according to National Weather Service totals.
That inland portion of the state got the later portion of the storm, getting as much as 9.6 inches in East Sangerville, overtaking towns along the coast and Downeast. By Tuesday morning, East Machias had the top spot, with about 8 inches of snow.
The storm dumped more snow in southern New England, just before weather across the state and region is expected to reach the coldest temperatures of this rather mild winter.
